Well, my freedom loving friends, it's a rather sad day for the US (actually yesterday was, but writing this today). With the left setting a new precedent of arresting an ex-president and current top republican candidate, a line was crossed that I didn't think would ever happen in America. When we look at other countries, the ones that people might have parents or grandparents from and they say "I'm so grateful I was born in America," this is what they do in those countries. For President Trump, a man who I do believe loves America and is trying to do what's in the best interest of it's citizens (and thus he's a threat to the tyrants), I don't necessarily have faith that he'll get a fair trial. He's being tried in a district that Hunter's dad won with more than 80% of the vote. I do fear and feel sad about the thought of the possibility of him having his beloved freedom taken away from a corrupt justice system.
I also feel sad about what this could mean for the trajectory of America. It's clearly been going down, yet we just lost a shit ton of altitude all at once. I feel as though I've lived a great life and if it was all taken away tomorrow, though I would be bummed, I would still be fulfilled. But my main worry is about the future for my son and other people's children. I also see some people in America cheering on this political persecution, without realizing they're stoked about a thrilling car ride while they don't see the cliff the car is speeding towards.
But I do think there is a bright side. I had to be honest above with my worries, sadness, and fears. But simultaneously I also have hope, passion, and excitement. Is America doomed? My answer: only if we allow it. The good part that's come from this arrest is the corrupt ones have made themselves even more obvious. Nothing can change if we don't see what needs to change.
A forrest fire is obviously devastating in the moment. You see what's being lost. But the forrest fire is actually a healthy part of nature's way that gives rise to even more lush growth. The forrest eventually comes back bigger, better, stronger because of the forrest fire. In America we have a lot of old growth, corrupt systems, etc, that needs to be burned away. I think we're in the process of that. It's painful, it sucks right now, yet if we choose to have the courage to keep following our hearts and waking others up to do the same, this will all be for the greater good.
I might be delusionally optimistic or I might be on point. I'm not sure, but that's how I see things right now. BUT more importantly, whether you're in America or a different country, let me and the community know in the comments what your perspective is on the situation.
